Brunching for me is a celebration of a special day with the food, the people and the places I love. Brunching knows no rules: sweet, savory, healthy bites, cheat treats… it can be so many things. 1. Trópico
“Travel while you eat” is the motto at Tropico, a restaurant that offers fresh, healthy and delicious food inspired in cuisines and ingredients from all over the world. For years now, Tropico has been a must if you’re looking for brunch restaurants in Barcelona. When it comes to dishes, some of their classics include sweet and savory toasts, but if you want to try something new you should totally go for their delicious cachapas.

2. Gringa
This Californian diner does not disappoint if you’re looking for a great brunch place in Barcelona. The authentic American diner experience comes through in their interior as well as their dishes (their famous fried chicken sandwich definitely a favorite) and the lively atmosphere.

3. The Egg Lab
Eggs, smoothies, pancakes, cakes… As the name hints, if you love eggs then you’re gonna love this place. The Egg Lab is definitely THE place to be when it comes to enjoying the perfect eggs dish for brunch—that’s their specialty!

4. Elsa & Fred
Elsa & Fred is like a cozy living room serving all the food you could need for a perfect brunch. But my favorite thing about this place is their patatas bravas, because who said you can’t you have patatas bravas for brunch? Elsa & Fred’s interior and their open-air area is on of my favorite things about this restaurant—starting the day with a brunch in the sun, doing some people-watching in this charming neighborhood is a always a great start of the day!

5. Little Fern Café
Little Fern draws inspiration from the laid-back café culture of New Zealand and is by now a classic in the Poblenou area. This cozy café serves amazing specialty coffee as well as some mouth-watering dishes packed with global flavors. The space is bright, simple, and it has a lot of character.

6. Can Dende
This one’s a personal favorite! Serving indulgent brunch dishes with a Brazilian twist, Can Dende is a renowned spot in Poblenou. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, staff super friendly, and their dulce de leche pancakes are to die for. Good to know: it’s not possible to reserve in advance and it tends to get very busy in the weekend, but that can only mean it’s totally worth it.

7. Casa do Açai Brunch & Coffee
Wait, did you say “house of açai”? Yes, I did! If you’re also a big açai lover like me, then you should definitely pay a visit to Casa do Açai and have the biggest bowl of açai you can get. At Casa do Açai you’ll also find eggs, salads, toasts and other delicious brunch treats. There is also an open-air terrace where you can sit too, if you want to enjoy the sunny day.

8. Flax & Kale
Flax & Kale is one of those timeless classic brunch restaurants in Barcelona. They call themselves a “flexitarian” restaurant, which means they have lots of vegetarian as well as meat and fish options. Some of my all-time favorites at Flax & Kale are their iced smoothies and their toasts, but there is so much to choose from depending on what you’re in the mood for!

9. Faire Brunch & Drinks
Every time you brunch at Faire, they plant a tree. Did you need any better excuse to have brunch? I don’t think so! Their dishes are delicious and as colorful as the pretty interior. Another great point? Their specialty coffee.

10. Milk
Milk is definitely a classic that can’t be left out on this list as it set the bar high for brunching in Barcelona when they opened back in 2005. I love the small, cozy atmosphere, which is not that easy to find in this busy and touristy part of Barcelona. If you’re looking for one of the best brunch restaurants in Barcelona and you happen to be in the Gothic Quarter, don’t fall for tourist traps! Instead, go to Milk and give yourself the brunch you deserve. Just keep in mind that, in the weekend, you may have to wait in line.
